Pallikondeswara Swamy
In all the temples we can see Lord Siva in form of Sivalingam. But in this temple we can see Lord Siva in sleeping posture on the lap of Sarvamangala Devi(Parvati Devi). Pallikondeswara Swamy temple is in Nagalapuram Mandalam, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. It is in the border of Tamilnadu and Andhra Pradesh. It is about 15kms from Nagalapuram Vedanarayana Swamy temple. It is also called as SAYANA MADIR of Lord Siva. It is on the bank of river Aruna.

TEMPLE HISTORY
Nandieswara in front of Pallikondeswara Swamy Temple
As we all now during Ksheerasagara Madanam, first poison came out. Devatas prayed Lord Siva for protection and poison was consumed by Lord Siva. Parvathi Devi stopped the poison from entering the stomach of Lord Siva to protect the whole world. He kept it in his throat. It is so potent that it changed the colour of the Lord Siva’s neck into blue.
On the way back to Kailasam Lord Siva felt very dizzy and took rest on the lap of Parvathi Devi in this place. Narada meanwhile passed the news to all the Devathas. All the Sura Ganas came to this place to see Lord Siva, so it is called as Surutapalli. Pallikondeswara Swamy is also called as Neelakanta, Srikanta, Nanjunda Swamy. Nandiswara stopped all the Devathas who came to see Lord Siva and asked them to wait for sometime, as Lord Siva was resting. when Lord Siva woke up, saw all the Devathas and felt happy and danced.
The day on which Saptha Rishis, Devathas had Lord Siva’s Darshan was on KRISHNA PAKSHA TRAYODASI. In SIVAPURANAM it is mentioned that if this Krishna Paksha Trayodasi comes on Saturday then all the Devathas come here in Mahapradosham time to have Darshan of Pallikondeswara Swamy.

ABOUT TEMPLE
1. It is said that Lord Sri Rama has installed a Sivalingam in this temple after killing Ravana to get rid of Brahma hatya patakam.
2. Valmiki also did penance here and installed a Sivalingam called VALMIKISWARA SWAMY. Valmiki Maharshi’s idol is also present inside the temple.
3. In Pradosham more Poojas and Abishekams are done to Nandi than to Lord Siva as he stopped all the devathas who came to have darshan of Lord Siva when he was taking rest.
4. There is another idol of Lord Dakshina Murthy(Lord Siva) with his consort Parvathi Devi in the outer walls of Valmikeshwara shrine. Dakshina Murthy will be in sitting position and it appears as if Parvathi Devi hugged him from left side. He is called as DAMPATHYA DAKSHINA MURTHY.  It is believed that those who pray Dampathya Dakshina Murthy they will get married soon and childless couple will be blessed with children.
 5. Pallikondeswara Swamy is seen with his consort and many other gods. Lord is in sleeping posture (about 6feet long) with his head on the lap of goddess Parvathi Devi(Sarvamangala Devi ). Surya, Chandra are present on either side of the goddess Parvathi Devi. Many others including LORD Vishnu, Brahma, goddess Lakshmi, Sage Markandeya, Sage Agasthyar, Valmiki, Indra, Sage Narada, Lord Subrahmanya with his consort and Lord Ganapathi are also present in the temple. It appears as if whole Kailasam is assembled here.
6. SANI PRADOSHAM is especially important, about 15,000 devotees visit this temple.
